loloINK.com was named after my Grandma Lois. When I was very little, she worked in the lamp department at Gimbels. I would call her up at work and tell her about current news: a lost tooth, a new book, anything. After a few years, she was transferred to the coat department and though the store changed owners over the years (Marshall Fields, Yonkers, Macy’s) she stayed in the coat department full time until her mid-eighties.
The 2009-10 collection of loloINK scarves is inspired by her work in that department. I remember walking through rows and rows of charcoal and camel colored wool coats, or playing hide and seek in her front hall closet, which was filled with two things: coats and poker chips.
Though the scarves are always camel or charcoal, the images are always different and inspired by Lolo memories: birds, pies, grapes from her vine, apple branches, houses in the shape of her simple ranch home on 72nd Street, love letters, and nighties. Each scarf is one-of-a-kind and oh-so-cozy.
The two shown here are $35.00 each and can be purchased at www.loloink.etsy.com. More posted each week. Many available this Fall at Luminary in Colorado.
